Offering a preresidency position to begin on July 1, 2008. Pre-requisites: Previous clinical or clinical research experience through surgical or neurosurgical internship is desirable. Successful applicant will have at least an M.D.
The Department of Neurological Surgery at the Methodist Hospital (Clarian Neuroscience institute) in Indianapolis is offering a pre-residency fellowship position to begin on July 1, 2008. This position involves training in complex intracranial surgery and spinal instrumentation under the tutelage of five neurosurgeons.
This full-time employee as a Postdoctoral Scholar is expected to participate in patient care and clinical research. There is ample amount of opportunity to also conduct historical neurosurgical research based on the available material of the Cushing Bain Tumor Registry stored in digital format. A book project that is in progress will also provide ample opportunity for the employee to advance their academic career. Previous clinical or clinical research experience through surgical or neurosurgical internship is desirable. Successful applicant will have at least an M.D. The Department is interested in clinical outcomes research in cerebral aneurysms and brain tumors.
Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Pre-requisites: Applicant must have at least an M.D. must demonstrate their interest in neurological surgery as a career.

Offering a post-residency fellowship position emphasizing surgical and nonsurgical management of pituitary disorders to begin July 1, 2008. The Neuroendocrine fellowship will provide the candidate an opportunity to participate in both microscopic and endoscopic transsphenoidal surgical techniques under the supervision of internationally recognized faculty including Edward H. Oldfield and John A. Jane, Jr (neurosurgery). Candidates will also participate in a multidisciplinary clinic attended by the neurosurgical faculty and our endocrinology colleagues Michael Thorner, Mary Lee Vance, and John C. Marshall. Currently the team sees over 1500 patients and performs 200 transsphenoidal operations annually.

Swedish Neuroscience Institute - Spine Program

Offering clinical + research Spine fellowship position to begin training on January 1, 2008.

One and two year fellowships offered for advanced techniques in spinal surgery in treatment of complex spinal disorders. The fellowship includes a wide range of techniques in complex spinal instrumentation including treatment of cervical-medullary junction abnormalities as well as posterior and anterior cervical thoracic, and lumbar instrumentation for fracture deformity and neoplasm. A significant number of intradural tumors performed each year including intra- and extramedullary tumors. Spinal radiosurgery using CyberKnife is also taught. Motion preservation techniques including artificial disc surgery and trials on motion preservation devices are also integrated into the training program. Minimally invasive surgery of cervical and lumbar spine are also taught. Kyphoplasty and vertebral plasty techniques are also taught. Swedish Neuroscience Institute - Epilepsy & Functional NS
DESCRIPTION:

Offering clinical + research Epilepsy & Functional Neurosurgery fellowship position to begin training on January 1, 2008.

The Swedish Neuroscience Institute is one of the countries busiest centers for epilepsy and functional disorder. The Epilepsy Center performs 300-350 monitoring cases per year and 100 surgical procedures for epilepsy. Complete workup and evaluation for epilepsy surgery is taught including grid monitoring, as well as strip monitoring, resection techniques and vagal-nerve stimulation. SNI also has a busy functional neurosurgery program exists with over 100 electrode placements for deep brain stimulation last year and a well developed movement disorder practice. In addition stereotactic radiosurgery treatment of tremor with GammaKnife in the busiest center in the country with over 300 cases being performed to date.
