Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship Match

The Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship Match (POSM) was established in 2009. Its goal is to coordinate fellowship appointments, thus relieving the pressure of uncoordinated appointments and forced early choices. The participating programs will not make any appointments until the match has been completed.

Sponsorship

The Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) sponsors the matching process and provides a forum for the discussion of match-related issues. The Matching office does not in any way sponsor or approve any of the participating programs. The function of the Matching Program is strictly limited to processing of the match. Listing or not listing of any program in the directory does not imply any form of approval, disapproval or endorsement. The decision to be listed or not rests solely with each individual Program Director.

About the Match

The Match takes place in April and will be used to process all applicants who want to start their fellowship training in August of the following year. There is $100 non-refundable registration fee that covers registration and matching process. To register for the Match, click on "Login/Register" button on the left-hand side menu. Once registered you will gain access to view the Program Directory and make your program selections. A Centralized Application Service (CAS) is available and it is mandatory for applicants and programs. Browse through the links under "Central Application" to learn more.

Applicants and programs must abide by the Codes of Conduct

The San Francisco Match Program (SFMP) is used by the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America to match fellowship applicants with pediatric orthopaedic fellowships in the United States and Canada. The SFMP does not screen any applicant as to their qualification to participate in a fellowship. It is the applicant’s responsibility to secure the appropriate certification and medical licenses necessary to successfully participate and complete the fellowship.

Applicants Registered In More Than One Match

If you have registered for more than one orthopaedic fellowship match please be aware that upon successfully matching to an orthopaedic specialty,  you will be withdrawn from all other specialty matches. The fees paid to register/apply to other specialties are not refundable once you have matched.
